Maha Poornahuthi was offered into the sacred fire-pit in the Poornachandra Auditorium this morning marking the grand culmination of the week-long Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna in Prasanthi Nilayam.

In the Poornachandra Auditorium, this morning’s rituals began at 0645 hrs. and came to a temporary halt at 0900 hrs., as the priests proceeded for sacred bath. Bhajans continued for half-an-hour.

Ritwiks received the Poornahuti samagri (paraphernalia related to the final function) in the bhajan hall before proceeding in a procession to the venue. Setting the stage for the grand finale, the ‘priestly’ procession carrying the Dhaarini (a large silver spoon for feeding ghee to the Yajna fire) entered the Yajna Vedhi at 0930 hrs., to the escort of Veda chanting and Nadaswaram.

With a packed audience watching the proceedings, with The Yajna Purusha, Bhagawan, presiding over in His omnipresent form, the Maha Poornahuthi was offered into the sacred fire-pit at 0940 hrs. Subsequently, ghee was added into the sacred fire, streaming through the silver spoon enhancing the flames. Vigorous Veda chanting and other rituals continued for another half-an-hour before the culmination. This blessed venue had for many years adorned the beautiful Divine Form of The Yajna Purusha, clad in burning red, presiding over the function on many such Vijaya Dasami occasions over the past over three decades.

Devoted assembly got an additional whiff of grace; even as bhajans started, priests along with Vedam boys dispersed into many groups sprinkling the ‘sanctified water’ from the Yajna upon the blessed confluence.

Mangala Arathi was offered at 1030 hrs. marking the end of the proceedings.

Grama Seva 2014 also came to a grand culmination this morning here in Prasanthi Nilayam. Marking the grand finale of the seven-day Karma Yajna, women students from the Anantapur campus served the inmates of Ashram with Bhagawan’s Prasadam in the morning, post Poornahuthi. Students from the Anantapur campus along with faculties have this rare privilege of serving the Ashram residents, an honour bestowed upon by Bhagawan, ever since the inception of Grama Seva in the year 2000.

Students and staff along with hundreds of women devotees from in and out of Prasanthi precincts have also been active throughout the week, during night hours, packing and arranging the Prasadam.

Resonant vibrational chanting that echoed in the Prasanthi precincts prevailed on, subtly enhancing the spirit, bringing His mighty Will into effect… Peace For All… Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu.

Holy Vijaya Dasami’s godliness has a rare tale of enhanced sanctity as this was the very day Bhagawan at Shirdi chose for His ‘Seemolanghan’…withdrawal of His earthly Avataric form…

Concluding Ceremony of Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha (Day 7) programme as follows:
4:45: Talk by Harishankar Bhat
5:15 p.m. - Music Programme by Mrs. Devaki Pandit
6:00 p.m. - Bhajans & Prasadam
6:30 p.m. - Arati

Week-long Dasara celebrations concluded this evening with the final session of Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha here in Prasanthi Nilayam. A speech, Divine discourse and a Musical offering were the highlights of this evening’s concluding session.

Earlier, the session commenced at 1645 hrs. with an invocatory Vedic chanting by the students of Easwaramma English Medium High School. Introductory speech followed next. The artist for the evening was Ms Devaki Pandit, a popular classical singer from Mumbai.

Expounding on the all-conquering love of Mother Sai, referring to the brief stint of Veda chanting by the Ajit Popat group from the UK that preceded his speech, Sri Harishankar Bhat, the speaker for the evening, said, with illustrations from some of the lives touched and healed by Bhagawan that, it is on the lap of the Universal Mother that one sets himself free, freeing from all fears. Explaining the purport of the Gayathri Mantra in brief, the young speaker urged his fellow devotees the need to manifest the miracle in everyone’s life by knowing the ‘True Nature’, shining from within, with ‘our’ own Divinity.  Sri Harishankar Bhat is an MBA from SSSIHL and is currently serving the Accounts & Purchase section of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, as Sr. Manager.

Divine discourse followed next, played on the public address system, wherein Bhagawan elucidated on the significance of conclusion, “samapthi”, of the Yajna.

Unfolding the mystery of music with her passion and God-given talent, Ms Devaki Pandit began her concert in a most unassuming fashion submitting at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. Beginning with a Ganesha stuthi in Raag Hamsadhwani, Ms Pandit continued with an array of three Mira Bhajans, namely, Mein Tho Savari Rang Naachi…, Mein Ne Giridhar Ke Ghar Jau…, Paayoji Meiney…, winding up with Prasanthi’s popular “Prema Muditha Manasey Kaho Rama Rama Ram…”.

Ms Pandit was accompanied by Sarvasree Prasad Pandav on Tabla, Niranjan Lele on Harmonium and Nandakumar Baswalkar on Pakhawaj. Ms Devaki Pandit is a popular name in the Indian musical circuit, especially in the genres of playback singing and classical music. Ms Pandit had the rare good fortune of singing for Bhagawan during the 70th and 73rdBirthday celebrations in Prasanthi Nilayam.

Soulful, fast-paced, lively bhajans by the Ajit Poppat’s UK group continued. Even as Prasadam was being distributed, the artist along with accompanists were felicitated. Students from various institutions made a beeline to Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet, presenting their ‘handiwork’ of greetings on the auspicious occasion.

The session concluded with Bhagawan singing “Sathyam Jnanam Anantam Brahma…”. Mangala Arathi at 1845 marked the end of a glorious week-long festivity.
