Video, Photos & Updates

The week-long sacrificial ritual coinciding the Navarathri Festival, Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna commenced in Prasanthi Nilayam this morning marked with great spiritual fervour.

The legend has it that Dasara signifies the victory of Devas over Asuras, i.e., Righteousness over the forces of evil. The festival of Dasara, atypical in Prasanthi Nilayam by its conduct and style, brings nostalgic memoirs of the grand festivity of olden days in the immediate Divine Presence.

Dasara Celebrations from Sai Kulwant Hall - 27 Sep 2014  -

This morning’s proceedings began at 0830 hrs. with a ceremonial procession carrying the sacred Kalasha to the venue, Poornachandra Auditorium, amidst Vedic chanting.

Proceedings at Poornachandra began by generating sacred fire by friction, churning of two wooden pieces. The fire generated was subsequently placed at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet, before depositing in the sacred sacrificial pit, marking the beginning of the Yajna.

Earlier, Kalasha Puja and Kumkumarchana and other affiliated rituals were done at the Bhajan Hall and Yajna Sankalpa (intention) was taken before taking the Kalasha out for procession.

Even as the Yajna continued, students set out, proceeding for Grama Seva. Today being the 3rd day, villages in and around Puttaparthi would be covered serving thousands.

A jampacked Poornachandra Auditorium attentively witnessed the sacred proceedings in the morning.

Mangala Arathi was offered to Bhagawan at 1025 hrs. Yajna would continue after the Mangala Arathi.
