Puttaparthi:
Offering humble pranams at the lotus feet of our beloved Swamy…..
Another exciting day in the land of Kali Yuga Avatara… Swamy out of immense
grace and mercy, delivered His divine discourse which was an eye opener to
people living in this momentary, worldly, world…
The afternoon session started with Swamy blessing all of us with His
divine darshan around 2:45pm…as the Yagna was still going on, Swamy took a
full round in Sai Kulwanth Hall giving a perfect view of His EVER
BLISSFUL form to the thousands seated in the hall and equal number of
devotees outside…
Later Swamy came on the dias and watched the proceedings of the Yagna for
more than half hour… around 3:20 the Yagna (for today) came to an end and
Mr. Vinay Kumar went to Swamy to inform today’s programme.. This afternoon,
the speaker who was blessed to speak in presence of Swamy was
Prof. RamaSwamy, the founder of well renowned Indian Institute Of
Management (IIM), Bangalore a long time devotee of Swamy and recipient of
many awards including Padma Bhushan from the government of India.
He spoke of today’s world, the trauma we are undergoing because of
Terrorism, racial differences and communal violences.. He was of the view
that Swamy has come at the RIGHT TIME… as He promised in Gita, SAMBHA VAMI
YUGE YUGE…, the time when the world is in crisis, animals are being burnt
alive, man and man are fighting and even in a small family which is unit
of the society has broken down.. there is no love and affection.. people
are craving for comforts… Bhagwan has come to bestow, peace, happiness..
Mr. Rama Swamy continued “First time in the history of man kind, an avatar
has come to teach the whole world what real HUMAN NESS is… this land of
Bharat has witnessed many sages, avatars, even in such a country there is
unrest..”
“I have seen so many events arranged but this Ati Rudra Yagna is done in
PERFECTION based on spirituality, ethics, law of Karma and with utmost
discipline and dedication.. Its all blessings of Swamy…” he added
“I appreciate Mr. Vinay Kumar and all the volunteers who have sacrificed
to give Ananda to thousands of devotees and who are the blessed ones to
undertake such a stupendous feat , an Yagna to be performed in His
immediate presencee…..
Lets all try our best to be with Swamy, Practice His teachings as THAT’S
THE LEAST HE EXPECTS FROM US and that will MAKE HIM HAPPY….
After his talk, Mr.Rama Swamy, an elderly man, went to Swamy for His
blessings and Swamy asked him to be seated next to Him on the floor, and
being an elderly man he hold the railings with one hand and Swamy’s chair
with another hand to sit on the floor.. Swamy saw the difficulty of this
man and asked the boys to bring him a chair (How caring you are
Swamy!!),and the (old man), Prof. Rama Swamy was over joyed by His gesture…
Later Mr. Vinay Kumar, went to Swamy and was speaking to Him, we all were
eagerly awaiting, if Mr. Vinay Kumar signals for the discourse table… and
sure enough, Swamy put the OK stamp and he signalled for the discourse
table, as we all of us started clapping… Swamy’s chair was slightly moved
to His left, there were still loud applauds as He was, very slowly,
raising from His throne…
After, adjusting the mike and His voice, while the whole crowd and
Prof. Anil Kumar were giving their EAGER ears, Swamy started..

just as the elephant is unaware of its strength, Indians have come down to
the level of elephant.
Embodiments of love
Indians are very fortunate, this land is land of
sacrifice, merit, spirituality… such a country, Indians are not
understanding the greatness of Bharat… if an elephant waves its tail it
can throw a person 9feet away.. such an elephant is controlled by a
human.. not knowing its strength, elephant is slave to humans…
YOU ARE NOT THE BODY:
This body is bound to fall one day or the other, the indweller is
permanent. He has no beginning nor end… He is God himself.. realize this
truth… this body is just an iron box…the power present in this body is not
present any where….Truth is PERMANENT… you can just experience it but cant
see it.. Truth is God, God is wisdom,he is endless..
TRUTH AND ONLY TRUTH:
Everything is born out of truth, and merges in truth…there is no place
without truth…you will find truth every where nothing is Mithya
(illusion), but man is carried away by out ward beauty… Man has to realize
this TRUTH.. Man has to uphold TRUTH.. There is no place without
TRUTH…Sathya is the foundation for the mansion of Dharma.
So control your senses and give up body attachement. Merely relying on
bookish knowledge is paving way for forgetting the TRUTH…
Ignoring the Truth, we are follwing the senses…Mind can run any distance
in seconds.. Mind has to be put in control…MIND IS LIKE A MAD MONKEY… BODY
IS A WATER BUBBLE.. by believing the mind and body, Man is RUINING his
life.. the day when you give up body attachment and control your sense and
realize the Atma tatva.. that day you will be God himself.. You are not
MANAVA(Man)..you are MADHAVA (God)… You have taken a form of human being,
as long as you move about in this world, you wil be called by the name
given to you by your parents… this is just ACTING.. the moment you leave
this body you get another name and another form..
You have to make use of this Human life.. all your learning, degrees are
MOMENTARY…. And they vanish the moment you leave your body.. first of all
realize the REAL TRUTH.. the TRUTH.. IAM NOT THE BODY.. if any one asks
you Who are You?.. you respond to a person basing on your body and your
name.. if your name is Ram das, and when any one calls you you say YES I
am Ram das. Who gave you this name?… You didn’t have name when you were
born…its just a name given to you by your parents…
LOVE YOUR MOTHER
When Rama was named by Vasishta, he was named Rama Chandra.., only few
people realized Rama’s divinity….You should have forbearance… other wise
you are not human being at all.. Love your mother…today do you find any
one respecting their mother? That day when Rama was going to Janaka
Maharaja(Sita’s Father), he took blessings from His mother….She blessed
Rama to be successful and victorious…Because of that mother’s blessings,
Rama was successful.. Janaka was a learned man.. he fell at the feet of
Rama…and asked Rama to marry Sita.. though Janaka asked Rama, Rama didn’t
agree….. TODAY’S BOYS ARE NOT LIKE THAT.... They jump in joy the moment
theIr marriage is fixed and start printing wedding cards and distribute
them to all…But Rama said, we are four brothers, Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata
and Satrugna…so the four should be married same day, same time…Though the
marriage to Sita was fixed, Rama never looked at Sita…
Today’s children are not like that.. after engagement they go to movies..
this is NOT THE RIGHT ATTITUDE.. He never looked at Sita.. after getting
consent from His father, Dasaratha.. He accepted to marry sita, still He
didn’t look at Sita..
SITA RAMA WEDDING:
While the marriage was going on, Sita was supposed to garland Rama first…
Rama yet didn’t look at her.. because, “she is not my wife.. she is
another women.. how can I look at another woman?its worst of the sins”…
Rama was very tall.. and Sita couldn’t garland Him….. Rama didn’t bent
before Sita and Sita didn’t garland Rama….. All the people assembled were
looking at each other with curiosity….. then Rama looked at Lakshmana..
and Lakshmana said, Brother! first you touch the feet of our mother.. Rama
took blessings from mother, and to do this Rama bend, and immediately Sita
put the garland around Him…
This way the marriage was conducted.. those ages are the real ages..
Today, boy s and girls, don’t stick to such moral values..
Always listen to elders, respect them.. Then only there will be peace in
your lives..
When they went to forest, for 14 years. Sita followed to forest as she
considered her husband as God, as life…one day when Rama and sita were
sitting under a tree and were in conversation, Lakshmana left the place..
he walked a long distance.. then Lakshmana had bad thoughts.. he thought,
Brother, why should we suffer like this? Lets go back to Ayodhya.. Why
should Sita suffer?.. Rama called Lakshmana and said, its not your
mistake.. it s the effect of the place… this is a place where demons move
so you have demonic qualities.. this is not your behaviour….. there after
Lakshmana transformed and lived with Rama and Sita for 14 years
RAMAYANA-INDIA
…Ramayana is the HEART of India.. for all the difficulties we face today
is just because of losing values.. even if you are in mountains, in the
river, invillage, in town, God WILL COME TO YOUR RESCUE.. those who know
the nature of God will EXPERIENCE THE TRUTH.. The spark of God is present
in every one of us.. We are the sparK of the divine.. we are GOD… If you
say, Iam son of SO AND SO, son-in-law of SO AND SO.. brother-in-law of SO
AND SO….... YOU WILL REMAIN SO AND SO ONLY…
Embodiments of Love
You all are good children.. but because of environment, and also food
habits you are becoming bad…. Have good friends TELL ME YOUR COMPANY I
SHALL TELL YOU WHAT YOU ARE… So you should join GOOD COMPANY…
Join good company, get a good name.. BE GOOD DO GOOD SEE GOOD.. THIS IS
THE WAY TO GOD.. Lead your life accordingly
For the past 4 days, IAM TROUBLING YOU.. (Prof.Kumar paused for a while,
as Students loudly said NO SWAMY!!!!)Swamy continued “you might say NO,
but I know…..in the days to come I wil tell you many more things…Lead your
life like Rama…Give up bad thoughts.. when bad thoughts come in mind don’t
think about them again and again.. as you see, as you talk, bad thoughts
come.. JUST IGNORE THEM… Sathya Dharma Shanti Prema are your GOOD FRIENDS…
Don’t leave them… then only YOU will be a GOOD BOY..other wise you will be
a BAD BOY.. get good name.. to you and to your parents… and make them
happy..never disobey your parents.. then only you will earn the MERIT”….
After about 5 mins. .. Swamy gave a short discourse which gave 70mm smiles
on all our faces… He said, “ All of you should have a smiling face…
smiling doesn’t mean laughing loudly….Swamy continued from His chair, “ I
don’t like castor oil faces!!!….Even the scholars who have assembled here
are not smiling… the problems with their wives and children are
understandable!!!”Thus Swamy ended His divine discourse leaving all of us
smiling…
(The above discourse highlights are based on memory and not the official
version… )
Another sweet music programme started as sweet prasad was distributed….
Another GOLDEN DAY… We left the hall prostrating Swamy for LETTING US
WITNESS this Yagna… KOTI KOTI PRANAMS TO YOU SWAMY……

CONSIDER YOURSELF AS
PART OF DIVINITY
Forbearance is the real beauty in this sacred land of Bharat . Of
all the rituals, adherence to truth is the greatest penance. The
nectarous feeling in this country is the feeling of love towards
one’s mother. Character is valued far higher than the very life
itself. People have forgotten the basic principles of this great
culture and are imitating Western culture. Alas! The Bharatiyas are
not aware of the greatness of their cultural heritage just as a
mighty elephant is not aware of its own strength.
(Telugu poem)
Embodiments of Love!
Bharatiyas are very rich people. Bharat is a rich country. It is a
great land of Punya (merit), Thyaga (sacrifice) and Karma (action).
Unfortunately, today the people of Bharat are not realising the
greatness of their country. Just as the elephant does not realise
its innate strength, the Bharatiyas do not recognise their inner
strength. An elephant can knock down a man and throw him three yards
away with swish of its tail. However, a mahout with his goad is able
to keep the elephant in complete control. Since the elephant is
unable to realise its own strength, it is submitting itself to the
commands of the mahout. Similarly, the Bharatiyas today mislead by
their vesture of the body are unable to realise their innate
strength.
The body is made up of five elements and is bound to perish sooner
or later, but the indweller has neither birth nor death. The
indweller has no attachment whatsoever and is the eternal witness.
(Telugu poem)
There is tremendous divine power in the physical body of a human
being. The power of Truth that is present in this physical body can
bind the indescribable and incomprehensible Divinity. None can
assess this power of Truth. It is Sathyasya Sathyam (Truth of
truths), which no one can visualise by the mind. It can only be
experienced, not described. Truth is God, verily. That is why it is
said Sathyam Jnanam Anantham Brahma (Brahman is the embodiment of
truth, wisdom and eternity).
The creation emerges from truth and merges into truth,
Is there a place in the cosmos where truth does not exist?
Visualise this pure and unsullied truth. (Telugu poem)
Wherever you see in this universe, it is only Truth that manifests.
That there is something called Mithya (illusion) is itself an
illusion! However, man relies on the unreal body and considers it as
real. First and foremost, man has to realise this Truth. He has to
pray to Truth. He has to uphold Truth. It is said, Sathyannasti Paro
Dharma (There is no Dharma greater than adherence to truth) . Devoid
of Truth, there is no Dharma at all! It is only on the foundation of
Truth that the mansion of Dharma rests.
Embodiments of Love!
You have to make efforts to realise this Truth. Unable to control
our senses, unable to give up body attachment, we are neglecting the
Eternal Truth. This is the effect of our so-called secular
education. What is the nature of Truth? It is Nirgunam, Niranjanam,
Sanathanam, Niketanam, Nitya, Shuddha, Buddha, Mukta, Nirmala
Swarupinam (God is attributeless, pure, final abode, eternal,
unsullied, enlightened, free and embodiment of sacredness)
Forgetting such an indwelling Truth, we are following the senses of
action, senses of perception and the mind which are unreal. Do you
know the nature of mind? It runs after worldly objects,
indiscriminately. It is like a fly. One moment, it rests on a
fragrant flower. The next moment it sits on the garbage being
carried in a cart. How can you trust such a fickle mind? “Mind is
like a mad monkey, body is like a water bubble”. Unfortunately,
today, we are leading our lives reposing our faith in such a body
and mind. The day you give up attachment to the body, forget the
senses and contemplate on the Atma Tattwa, you will yourself become
an embodiment of The Divine Self. You are not merely a human being;
you are God, verily! Though you are God yourself, you are
unfortunately deluded to consider yourself a human being. You have
donned the garb of a human being for being in this world. This human
form is a garb. As long as you are in this world you will wear that
garb. The moment you return to the dressing room, you will leave
that dress. You are enacting a role, wearing this dress. Once you
leave this dress, you are your normal self again.
Humanness is sacred and divine. But man today is wasting such a
sacred and divine nature by consigning to earth such a sacred and
divine humanness. This is utter folly. On the other hand, one has to
sanctify one’s humanness. Your education, your intelligence, your
physical strength and power, all these are short-lived. You have to
strive to realise the eternal Atma Tattwa instead. You are not the
body. Supposing somebody comes and enquires, “Who are you?”, you
reply, “I am so and so.” Thus, you introduce yourself. Taking into
account your physical body, your occupation, the place where you
live, etc., you say, “I am Ramadas.” This is a name given to you by
your parents. Whenever someone enquires, “Who is Ramadas?”, you
reply “I”. The name “Ramadas” pertains to your body. “I” is your
real name. That “I” is real and eternal.
Who is Ramadas? He is the servant of Rama, the son of King
Dasaratha. The name Dasaratha in this context does not pertain to
the King of Ayodhya. Ayodhya means the place where no armed foe can
enter. The human body with the ten senses (five senses of action and
five senses of perception) represents Dasaratha. King Dasaratha had
three wives - Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. These three queens
represent the three gunas -Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas. Kausalya is an
embodiment of Sattwaguna. Kaikeyi represents Rajoguna and Sumitra,
the Tamoguna. One has to recognise the inner meaning of these terms
in relation to one’s own body / mind complex. The great sages and
seers realised this Truth. They were not deluded like the
present-day human beings. They realised Truth, lived for Truth and
propagated Truth.
Forbearance is the natural quality of Bharatiyas. In fact, the one
who is devoid of this quality is not a human being at all! The
mother has been given the first and foremost place in Indian
culture. The Vedas declared “Matrudevo bhava”, “Pitrudevo Bhava”
(mother is God, father is God).
You are all familiar with the Suprabhata sloka sung to Rama,
“Kausalya Supraja Rama …. (Oh! Rama! Son of Kausalya! It is the time
of dawn! Get up and perform Your morning oblations). Even in this
Suprabhatam sloka, Rama is referred to as the son of Kausalya. Her
name comes first, since mother is verily the God for a human being.
When Rama prostrated at the feet of his mother Kausalya at the time
of accompanying sage Viswamitra to the forest to protect the Yajna
to be performed by him, she blessed Him, “Son! May the supreme Lord
who protected Prahlada, may the Dweller of Vaikuntha who took the
child Dhruva into His fold, may the one extolled by the Amaras
(immortal Gods), may the Lord who is the refuge for the forlorn
confer victory on You!” It is only on account of the blessings of
His mother, Rama could vanquish the demons and protect the Yajna
performed by sage Viswamitra. Again it was the mother’s words of
blessing that was at the back of His success in the Swayamvara in
King Janaka’s court where He broke the divine bow of Lord Siva. King
Janaka who was a Karma Yogi (one who performs all actions as
offerings to the divine, with no attachment or desire for the fruit
thereof) and a Maha Jnani (a realised soul) himself, held Rama’s
feet in full view of the court and said “Son! There is none greater
than You. This is Sita, my daughter. I wish to give her in marriage
to you. Please accept her.” But, Rama politely declined his request
saying that he could not do so without the permission of His
parents. In contrast, today’s youth make a big show of a marriage
proposal. They arrange to print expensive invitation cards with
costly designs and colours and distribute to all. That was not the
way of Rama. He thought, “We are four brothers born at the same
time. Hence, whether it is Upanayana (thread ceremony) or Vivaha
(marriage), it should be for all of us together.” Till then, Rama
did not even look at Sita. Today’s youth are different. The moment
an engagement function between a boy and a girl is over, they go to
a cinema together. This is not good. Sita did not come out into the
open till the Muhurtham (auspicious moment) when the marriage was
near. Rama also did not look at her till that time. It is only after
His parents came to Mithila and Viswamitra informed them of King
Janaka’s proposal to give his daughter Sita in marriage to Him that
Rama consented to marry her. Even then, He did not look at Sita till
the marriage ceremony was over.
The couples were to exchange garlands as part of the wedding
ceremony. Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Satrughna were standing in a
line ready to garland their brides. Rama was the eldest among the
brothers. Hence, His bride Sita was to garland Him first. Later, the
other brides were to put garlands around their respective
bridegrooms. Sita stood in front of Rama holding a garland. But,
Rama did not look at her, since the marriage ceremony was not yet
complete. Till then, she was a stranger to Him. It is a great sin to
look at a ‘Parasthree’, a woman who has not yet become His wife -
was Rama’s view and ideal. Poor Sita! She waited for long. But, Rama
did not bow His head to enable Sita to garland Him. Lakshmana then
thought of a plan by which Sita could garland Rama. Suddenly, he
fell at the feet of Rama and Rama bent down to lift him up. Exactly
at that moment, Sita put the garland round the neck of Rama! Look!
How sacred and noble were the intentions of people of those times!
How pure and truthful were their hearts! Thus, people gave a lot of
importance to character during the Treta Yuga and Dwapara Yuga. That
is why those Yugas became very famous. You should also respect and
worship elders like Rama. You must obey the commands of the elders.
It is only when you pay heed to their words and follow them
diligently that you will be able to experience peace in life.
In accordance with the promise given by King Dasaratha to his wife
Kaikeyi, Rama had to spend fourteen years in exile in the forest.
Though Kaikeyi was a great queen, she listened to the words of her
servant, Manthara and sent Rama to the forest due to her promptings.
There is a lesson to be learnt in this context that we should give
weight to the words of the Master and not of the servant. Since
Kaikeyi succumbed to the advice of her servant, she underwent great
suffering and sorrow. During the journey to the forest, Sita also
followed Rama. She firmly informed her decision to Rama, “Oh! Lord!
The husband is God to a wife. Wherever he is, she should also be
there.” Lakshmana also accompanied Rama to the forest, saying, “Dear
elder brother! I cannot live for a moment without you.”
Lakshmana and Satrughna were born to Sumitra. True to her name,
Sumitra was a woman of noble qualities. She dedicated both her sons
to Rama’s seva. As per her wish, Lakshmana was serving Rama and
Satrughna was serving Bharata. Lakshmana’s qualities were highly
noble. Sita, Rama and Lakshmana encountered several difficulties
during their exile in the forest. All this is a well known. Once
while Rama and Lakshmana were walking in the forest, suddenly
Lakshmana told Rama in a dejected mood, “Dear elder brother! Why
this exile in the forest for us! It is very difficult for us to
protect Sita from the demons in this forest. Why should we undergo
so many ordeals here? Why should Mother Sita, who was never exposed
to the sun and rain so far, encounter so many difficulties in this
forest? Come! Let us go back to Ayodhya and lead a comfortable
life.” Rama then realised that, what Lakshmana was talking was due
to the effect of sthala (place). He took the hand of Lakshmana into
His smilingly and brought him out of that place by walking some
distance. Then He asked Lakshmana, “Lakshmana! Now you tell Me.
Shall we go back to Ayodhya?” Lakshmana then realised his mistake
and felt sorry. He pleaded with Rama, “Dear brother! We need not go
back to Ayodhya now. We have to live here in the forest for fourteen
years as per the command of our father. I never went against Your
wishes nor disobeyed Your command. I do not know why I spoke like
that then. I am just not able to understand why my mind had changed
like that.” Rama explained, “Lakshmana! I know this is not your
nature. This is the effect of the place through which we passed just
now. There are several demons moving about in this place. Since you
entered a place inhabited by the demons, the demonic qualities
entered into you.” So saying, Rama helped him regain his poise.
Hence, we have to take into consideration the time and place as also
the sthala prabhava (effect of the place) and conduct ourselves
accordingly.
No text had ever taught so much about good character, as Ramayana
did. Unfortunately, today several people are not in a position to
realise the greatness of Ramayana. Ramayana is verily the heart of
Bharatiyas. Not to realise this truth and act accordingly is the
reason for all the difficulties faced by Bharatiyas today. Wherever
you reside, you cannot escape from difficulties and suffering.
Nevertheless, one has to boldly face them reposing one’s faith in
God.
God is your sole refuge wherever you may be,
In a forest, in the sky, in a city or a village, on the top of a
mountain or in the middle of deep sea. (Telugu poem)
It is only those who are able to realise the nature of Divinity can
understand this truth. Today, all the youth have to cultivate good
qualities. You are all the children of God! Lord Krishna declared in
the Bhagavad Gita. Mamaivamsho Jivaloke Jivabhuta Sanathana (the
eternal Atma in all beings is a part of My Being).
Hence, we have to emulate the qualities of God and lead our lives
accordingly. It is only when you consider yourself as the amsa
(part) of Divinity that you will become good citizens. On the other
hand, if you take pride on yourself as I am the son of so and so, I
am the brother of so and so and I am the brother-in-law of so and
so, etc., you will remain as such. You have to realise the truth
that you are the amsa of God, verily. Then only will you be able to
understand Atma Tattwa.
Embodiments of Love!
You are all good children! You are all golden children! But, the
environment in which you live is spoiling you to a certain extent.
There is also the factor of the food you eat. If the friends with
whom you associate yourself are good, they will speak good words
with you. Otherwise, they will talk bad things and create bad
thoughts in your mind. “Tell me your company, I shall tell you what
you are”. Hence, you should associate yourself with good friends.
Satsangatwe Nissangatwam,
Nissangatwe Nirmohatwam,
Nirmohatwe Nischalatattwam,
Nischalatattwe Jivanmukti.
(Sanskrit sloka)
(Good company leads to detachment; detachment makes one free from
delusion; freedom from delusion leads to steadiness of mind;
steadiness of mind confers liberation.)
You should not make your life a ‘nuisance’, listening to the
‘nuisance’ words of others. Join good company and get a good name.
“Be good, do good, see good”. Then only will you be able to realise
Divinity.
Embodiments of Love!
You must lead your lives taking Rama’s life as your ideal. Whenever
someone questions you, “Where is God?”, your spontaneous reply
should be, “God is immanent in me as the Divine Atma.” You are
verily that Divine Atma. There is none other than Atma. That Atma is
also referred to as consciousness. You should follow your Antharatma
(conscience). Keep yourself away from bad thoughts. Don’t worry when
you get such bad thoughts. They just come and go. You should not
give importance to them. It is natural that when you are functioning
in this objective world with your senses, bad thoughts trouble you.
There are six enemies to a human being in the form of Kama (desire),
Krodha (anger), Lobha (greed), Moha (delusion), Mada (pride) and
Matsarya (jealousy). These six enemies will lead you into bad ways.
On the other hand, the five human values of Sathya (truth), Dharma
(righteousness), Santhi (peace), Prema (love) and Ahimsa
(Non-violence) are your good friends. You develop friendship with
them. If you make friendship with good people, you will be called
“good boys”; otherwise, you are “bad boys”. You should not get a bad
name for yourself. You should get good name for yourself and your
parents. Your parents must be having high hopes for you. Hence, make
them happy. The Veda exhorts you, Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo
Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava, Atithi Devo Bhava (revere your mother,
father, preceptor and guest as God).
Obey the commands of your parents. Then only you will become sacred
and your life will be sanctified.

The afternoon proceedings started around 2.00pm, with the
pundits continuing with the abhishekams and Rudra chantings.
Swami came by car and went straight to His chair. Again
watching the proceedings. Around 3.30, they stopped and a Sri
Ramaswami, spoke on the significance of Swami this century.
Calling it the ‘Sai Century’. Swami once again blessed us with
another Divine discourse. He mostly talked on, See good, Be
good, Do good - this is the way to God. After
Swami finished, His students sang bhajans. Aarti, then Swami
left. Just a few pics of the crowds and Baba’s birthplace
taken today.
Another aspect that happened today. I met a lady from
Russia who is living in a flat right behind Swami’s birthplace
and has lived there since ‘95. She took me around to Subbamas?
house, where Swami lived in as a boy at some stage. I was
allowed to
film inside and she plans to take me to other important places where Swami
grew up. She is well known in the village. So hope to film and
interview some of their experiences with Swami

Prasanthi Bulletin 14th August
This morning's proceedings
were advanced to enable the conclusion of the ceremonies while Bhagawan
was still present in the Sai Kulwant Hall. Bhagawan was present onstage
for most of the last two hours of the proceedings which concluded at 9.45
with Mangala Arati.
In the afternoon, the priests started their chants at two o'clock.
Bhagawan entered the Hall at 2.50.p.m. Blessing His loved ones He went all
around the Hall in His car. Amidst the chanting of Gayatri mantras
pertaining to the various Godheads, as the magnificent symbol of Shiva was
adorned with garlands, Shiva Himself adorned the stage at 2.55 p.m.
At 3:25.p.m., as the nadaswaram hailed the glory and as the conch echoed
forth in majesty, the head priest waved Aarthi to the lingam. This
ritualistic celebration was followed by the splendid speech of a highly
acclaimed devotee Prof. M. S. Ramaswamy, the Founder-Director of Indian
Institute of Management, Bangalore. He said "Lord! You planted millions of
spiritual saplings all around this country, and I'm one of those tiny
saplings. I did what I could do to spread your message. Standing in thy
presence is the greatest blessing, I ever had in the last 81 years of my
life.......and definitely 21st century is India's century and it is Sai's
century ....... it is Sai alone who united diverse religions and bound the
entire humanity in the bond of brotherhood. Sai alone condensed the
million pages of spiritual literature into simple statements of profound
potency and impact."
Then Bhagawan stood up to speak to His devotees. He said:
In the holy land of Bharath tolerance is the jewel
to be adorned.
Adherence to truth is the highest penance.
Motherhood is the sweetest of all feelings.
In this land character is more valuable than one's own life.
Indians are blessed. India is a land of sacrifice, it is a land of action
and it is a land of great benediction. But today this mighty land like an
elephant that is unaware of its own strength, stands weak and worn,
ignorant of its infinite capacity and power. The strength of Bharath is
not centered on Physical prowess. It is based on the purity of the inner
self. This indweller is very God himself. Our body is endowed with
limitless blessings. It can even bind the unattainable and the formless
Brahman in to a form.
Truth cannot be visualised for truth is the form of God. Abide to truth,
attain truth and adore truth. Build the mansion of Dharma on the
foundation of Truth. God that you are is the truth.
Mind is like a mad monkey and body is like a water bubble. Give up body
attachment, exercise control over the senses and contemplate on the Atma
.Then you will become Madhava Himself. This human form is a mere vesture.
But your current action is bound by this vesture. Just like an actor you
too change these vestures at the end of the drama.
Each one of you is the son of Dasharatha. This body with five organs of
action and five organs of perception is Dasaratha. Dasaratha had three
wives each signifying a particular Guna.
Indian culture upholds the sanctity and sacredness of motherhood. It was
the blessing of Kousalya that endowed victory to Sri Rama in the court of
Janaka. SriRama was the personification of good character. He never looked
at Sita till the exchange of their garlands.
Pay heed to the words of elders, respect them and follow them and this
definitely confers success. Kaika paid attention to the words of a servant
and thus stood as a cause for the exile of Rama.
In forest Lakshmana being influenced by the vibrations of the demonic
dwellings urged Rama to go back to Ayodhya. Rama, the all-knowing
recognised the cause for this aberration in the character of His brother.
He made Lakshmana sit in His presence and reminded him of the correct path
to be treaded. Thus even the place plays a very important role in
influencing our behaviour.
The company you keep too moulds your character. We have five enemies
called the lust, anger, greed, attachment and jealousy. Their company is
ruinous. Instead be redeemed in the company of five good friends called
Truth, Rightousness, Love, Peace and Non Violence. Tell me your company
and I shall tell you what you are.
Be in the depths of ocean or in the inaccessible heights of the mountain
Be in the city or in the village
Be in the forest or in the skies
God alone is Your Saviour
Do Good,Be Good,See Good. This is the way to God.
Make your Consciousness pure and reach God.
Never disobey your parents. They hold high hopes on you. Fulfil them and
then alone you shall be redeemed.
Swami then sat down and said "Always be smiling. Similing does not mean
unrestrained laughter. You smile at Swami and Swami will smile back at
you. I am your reflection, reaction and resound".
Swami then graciously allowed Sri. Vaidhyanathan of Palakkad, to render
devotional songs in traditional Tamil folk style. The simplicity and the
sweetness in the style and in the song touched the Lord and His devotees.
At the end of the concert, Swami blessed Sri. Vaidhyanathan with a gold
chain.
Meanwhile, Prasadam, blessed by the Lord was distributed to all devotees
in and around Kulwanth Hall.
He then lovingly called on His students onto the stage to sing bhajans.
During the course of the bhajans, Swami commanded the head priest to wave
Aarthi to the Lingam. The Lord returned to His abode at 5.55p.m.

Rudra Maha Yajna: Day 6 - Report : SSSBPT.ORG
With each passing
day of this Yajna, Prasanthi Nilayam is teeming with thousands of
devotees. Everyone wants to witness this holy and unique event in
the presence of the Lord Himself.
Bhagawan had blessed yet
another speaker to address the devotees on this evening. Prof. N.S.
Ramaswamy, a devotee of Bhagawan has been the founder director of the
Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore . The Government of India has
appointed him as the National Research Professor in Management. This is a
very prestigious position held only by ten scholars at any point of time
for various specialisations. Sri Ramaswamy is also recipient of Padma
Bhushan award for his dedicated social service to mankind, animals and
nature endowments. He spoke on the topic, “Sathya Sai in India ’s
Century”.
The scholarly speaker
began his speech by expressing his gratitude to Bhagawan. He said that
Bhagawan has planted millions of spiritual saplings in millions of
devotees and he is fortunate to be one among them. This is India ’s
century, in essence is the Sai’s century. Bhagawan represents all the
essence of India ’s ancient thought and wisdom. People from 150 countries
of the world, irrespective of ideology, religion, culture, prince and
pauper, young and old, all come to Bhagawan to have His Darshan.
Bhagawan’s Avatara is at the most appropriate time, when there are
conflicts of different kinds. Mother Earth has been plundered and
pillaged. The very existence of life on earth is endangered. Family, which
is a unity of society is breaking. Bhagawan has come to restore order and
peace.
The learned speaker spoke
of the greatness of India as described by scholars and philosophers. Max
Mueller has said, “ India is the mother of civilizations, grandmother of
human race, great grandmother of ethics, morals and values, great great
grandmother of philosophy, spirituality, meditation, mysticism, law of
nature.” Will Durant has written in his book, “If India goes, the whole
world goes.” The world is divided into have’s and have not’s. But India
has a third category, “Those who have, don’t want.” Buddha had a kingdom,
but he did not want it, Mahavira had a kingdom, he didn’t want it.
Bhagawan is here as the Virata Purusha (Cosmic Person) who will protect us
from evil forces, from the commercial era of Kali Yuga which is trying to
destroy the world.
After the speech of Sri
Ramaswamy, Bhagawan began His Discourse with a Telugu Poem eulogising the
sacred qualities of the land of Bharat and how people have forgotten their
own culture and are aping the western culture. “Forbearance is the real
beauty in this sacred land of Bharat . Of all the rituals, adherence to
truth is the greatest penance. The nectarine feeling in this country is
the feeling of love towards one's mother. Character is valued far higher
than the very life itself. People have forgotten the basic principles of
this great culture and are imitating Western culture. Alas! The Bharatiyas
are not aware of the greatness of their cultural heritage just as a mighty
elephant is not aware of its own strength.”
(Telugu Poem)
Bharat is the land of
plenty, merit, spirituality and sacrifice. But alas! Bharatiyas are not
making an effort to understand their glorious tradition. Just as the
elephant submits itself to the dictates of the mahout, man is not able to
understand his true strength.
The body is made up of
five elements and is bound to perish sooner or later but the indweller has
neither birth nor death. The indweller has no attachment whatsoever and is
the eternal witness. Truly speaking, the indweller who is in the form of
the Atma, is verily God Himself. (Telugu Poem)
The strength in the human
body is immense. God who is beyond human comprehension can also be drawn
by human. The latent power in human is very great.
Truth cannot be
visualised, it can only be experienced. Truth is God.
The creation emerges
from truth and merges into truth,
Is there a place in the
cosmos where truth does not exist?
Visualise this pure and
unsullied truth. (Telugu Poem)
Man is carried by his
false identification of the human body. So, man has to recognise truth.
Man has to worship and uphold truth. Sathyannasti Paro Dharma (There is no
Dharma greater than adherence to truth). With truth as the foundation, man
can build the mansion of Dharma (righteousness). Man is falling a prey to
his senses and forgetting the eternal truth. Man is subjugating himself to
the senses of action and senses of perception and deviating from the
eternal truth. The power of the mind is indescribable. At one moment, it
gets attracted to the good and holy and at another moment, it is drawn to
profane things. How can one believe such a mind? Mind is like a mad
monkey. Body is like a water bubble. Man is carrying on his life sojourn
depending on the body and the mind. The day man gives up this delusion,
controls the senses and contemplates on the Atma, that day he becomes
verily the embodiment of Atma. You are not Manava (man), you are Madhava
(God).
We have to understand the
effect of place. When Rama, Lakshmana and Sita were going in the forest,
suddenly at a certain place Lakshmana started questioning Rama as to why
they were in the forest infested by demons; they could have very well
lived in Ayodhya. It is very difficult to protect Sita from demons. Rama
kept quiet. After leaving the place, Rama explained to Lakshmana that it
was because the place was occupied by a demon, he got such bad thoughts.
Have friendship with the
five human values. They are your good friends. Then you will be good boys,
otherwise you are bad boys. You should never get a bad name. Get a good
name to your parents. Parents have high expectations on you. Make them
happy. Never disobey your parents. Only then will your lives be redeemed.
