Morning Darshan:
Prasanthi Nilayam was woken up with 21 Omkars and Suprabhatam in the Mandir followed by Nagar Sankirtan. Swami came to give darshan to everyone just after 8:00am. Swami, looking wonderful, blessed all devotees present in Sai Kulwant Hall with his darshan as the car passed from the sisters’ side to the brothers’ side. Swami, as usual at the moment, sat on the Portico for a short while and then proceeded to the interview room.
The Grama Seva teams all gathered in their respective transports to head for various villages. One of the villages visited by the UK Grama Seva group was called Agraharam. This village is located some 35 km from Puttarparthi and is very close to Ramasaagaram, which was visited the previous day. This is quite a busy village with almost 1,000 habitants. The welcome received by us seems to be very similar to all the other villages, which is become very familiar for all. The needs of the villagers are simple, that someone should know their plight. They are therefore very grateful to Bhagawan Baba for listening to their heartfelt prayers and sending love to them in form of food and clothing.
Afternoon Darshan:
To the delight of the eagerly awaiting devotees, Swami arrived for afternoon darshan at 3.50pm. The vice-chancellor Professor Gokak introduced the three speakers for today’s Prasanthi Vidhwan Maha Sabha: Sri Sanjay Sahni, Karthik Ramesh and Sai Giridhar. Swami then instructed the vice-chancellor to announce that Sri Ajit Poppat would speak after these three speakers.
Sri Sahni spoke eloquently on Swami’s teaching of the 3 P’s – Purity, Patience and Perseverance which leads to Divinity. He described Purity as a state of desirelessness; Patience as the only strength that a man needs and Perseverance as the Mother Ganga, who does not relent until merging with the Ocean.
Karthik Ramesh spoke about many inspiring topics showing love for both our physical and divine mothers
Upon completion of the three chosen speakers, Professor Gokak introduced Sri Poppat and invited him to address the gathering. Sri Poppat was ever-ready and inspired us all by narrating experiences from a group pilgrimage in July and also from last year’s Grama Seva. He spoke about many incidents, including one regarding a youth who had cataracts in both eyes since the age of four and who, upon returning from the recent trip in July, visited the hospital and was informed that his cataracts had disappeared!! Lastly, Swami blessed us all with His Divine Discourse, a continuation of yesterday’s Discourse. The topic was Kunti’s death, King Parikshit’s coronation and the Pandavas’ last journey. Swami stood for almost an hour
Sai Kingdom (UK) Grama Seva Group 2005 – 9th October
Morning Darshan:
All the devotees were awaiting the darshan of Swami from the early hours of the morning. However, Baba kept everyone waiting right up till 8:45am. The darshan of Bhagawan was very quick as most of the Students left immediately afterwards for Grama Seva. The UK Group was given two villages to visit today. These villages were the furthest away from Prasanthi Nilayam. The first was called Dantalapalli and the second was called Gangotivaripalli. The first village had only 70 houses, a very quite village. There were no roads from the main highway leading to the village. However, when we arrived, we saw Swami’s picture on a chair in the middle of the street with a flower garland around it. The second village only had 20 houses at most. There was no road leading into the village apart from a road still under construction, so all the prasadam had to be carried by hand to the village as the vehicles could not reach the village.
As we approached the households, we did not find the rush that we found in other villages. There was a quiet smile on everyone’s faces as welcome. We found mostly women present at the houses, as the men were most likely working out on the farms. As usual there were children in the village full of love and joy.
As the vehicles were heading back to Prasanthi Nilayam, there
were many stops on the way. The farmers in the surrounding areas would
come out to the main road and try to stop the vehicles in the hope of
receiving Swami’s prasadam. Finally, the journey came to end at Prasanthi
Nilayam, our real home
